Christmas Panic!

Update: The early Christmas dinner at my sister’s was superb! I really don’t know how we can top it. A prime rib roast with a rub of thyme, olive oil, sage, garlic, pepper and some other things was terrrific! The 2005 Betz Family Winery La Serenne went with the roast beautifully. And then there was the Christmas quiz. We all got some of the answers right, and got to draw for prize-winning envelopes. What a fun idea.

How can it be? It seems as if I just won’t be ready for Christmas this year. It’s the old excuse — too much to do, and not enough time to do it. But this year is especially bad. Is it because Christmas falls on a weekend this year? I know I’m not the only one. A number of people I’ve ‘chatted with’ on Facebook are in the same boat, and for some reason, the holiday spirit seems in short supply.

Concentrated effort. I have three days left, and only a couple of meetings in the time period, so here goes — I will make a concentrated effort to wrap up work-related things, and get into the swing of the holidays. It starts tonight with dinner at my sister’s, and we’ll take the gifts for the nephews, and go from there.

Here’s hoping you have a calm, peaceful and joyful holiday weekend! For each and everyone one of you, I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. I promise to take some time, enjoy having the family around, and relax. (Of course, this will be done amidst all the cooking, and cleaning, and last minute shopping)! But there’s nothing I like better than to have a fire going in the fireplace, sipping a glass of good red wine, turning off all the lights but the ones on the Christmas tree, and listening to music from a Charlie Brown CD of holiday tunes. Enjoy your time! And we’ll catch up again after the weekend.
