Consistency is Key

Being consistent. This topic has come up a lot recently, both in my consulting work, and with students at GoGirl Academy. For companies, knowing what you deliver to your clients and delivering that message consistently in a clear and concise manner, can make all the difference in whether you are successful, or — not very. Your customers need to know what you are selling! In my consulting business, I ‘sell’ my ability to tell companies’ stories in a clear, interesting way to local media and influencers. I encourage and work with my clients to make sure their messaging is clear, concise, and yes — consistent.

What do you stand for? At GGA, we talk about our personal brands, and what we stand for. Our students have to give some thought to what they want to be known for, so that they can deliver certain results. It’s not easy. It does require some soul-searching about your values, your talents, and what you want to communicate about yourself. (Business leaders give the same thought to their companies). I value honesty, integrity, hard work, and strategic thinking. I want to deliver creative, flexible solutions that best fit each of our GGA students, as well as creative, flexible solutions for my consulting clients!

Consistency does count. My values and what I look for in people haven’t changed much over the years, and yours probably haven’t either. But are you communicating them in the most effective way possible, both for yourself and your company? Don’t be a chameleon. Let people know what you stand for. You communicate that both through what you say, and more importantly, what you do. And when the word is out, people who know you (or your company) will be advocates for you, and help spread the word without you having to do it all yourself. Just make sure the message is consistent with the results you actually deliver!
