Medical Issue? Don’t Go It Alone!

Writing opportunity. I met Marianne Scholl, publisher of Seattle Woman Magazine, late last spring. At the time, I was working on a series of articles about patients needing to be their own advocates. When Marianne and I had coffee, she said, “I just met a professional advocate at a luncheon.” What a coincidence! And out of that conversation came the idea for an article on the new trend of hospitals, as well as professionals, to provide help navigating the increasingly complex maze of healthcare. Patients are being asked to make more and more decisions on their own, but don’t always know, or have the depth of information they need. So hospitals and professional advocates are stepping in, to help provide patients with the means to make informed decisions, and do what is best for them and their families.

A big ‘thank you’ to all of the people I interviewed for this article! You were incredibly helpful!
