Tough Job Ahead

Miss Seattle 2010. I have a tough job ahead next Saturday — judging the Miss Seattle competition! One of our GoGirl Academy alums is the Executive Director of the Miss Seattle pageant, Cheryl Siegfried. So when she asked if I would consider being a judge this year, I was certainly honored and said, “Yes!”

Impressive competition. McKinley Smith is the current Miss Seattle, and the Miss Seattle’s then go on to compete in the Miss Washington, (where McKinley finished as 1st runnerup) and then the Miss America pageant. No Miss Washington has ever won Miss America, so I am feeling a little bit of pressure here to get it right! I spent yesterday going through the resumes and platform statements, and it is a very impressive group of young women who’ll be competing on Saturday. I know they’ve worked hard and put a lot of time, energy and thought into all of this.

The Breakdown: Here’s what we judge on: 25% is the private interview. (I’ve been preparing questions). Talent is 35%, swimsuit and fitness is 15% while evening wear is 20%.

GoGirl well represented! Jenni Hogan, GoGirl founder and KIRO 7 morning traffic anchor, will be emceeing the event with KIRO weather forecaster Sam Argier, so I know it will be a great evening in Renton next Saturday night!! Good luck to all the contestants, as I know they’ll shine.
