Green Beanie Books Releases Historical Picture Book of UW

SEATTLE, WashingtonGreen Beanie Booksis announcing its newest book in a series of beautiful historical picture books of universities, this time featuring the University of Washington. UW Huskies from A to Z showcases everything ‘Husky,’ with little known facts about the university, its alumni and legendary athletes. Authors Kristi Ascani and Leinora Stuart uncover the stories behind well-loved Husky icons, such as the history of the Quad and the landmark Yoshino cherry trees, the rise of Washington’s crew team to be a perennial powerhouse, and even the inventor of the modern treadmill, Wayne Quinton, a pioneer in the field of bioengineering.

“Growing up in a family of Huskies, I have always known our football and crew programs were sources of great pride for the UW,” said Ascani. “But the depth and remarkable history of our rowers, players and coaches is truly fascinating. These two programs have been, and continue to be exceptional, and I am thrilled to be able to share a glimpse of these legendary athletes and coaches’ feats.”

UW Huskies A to Z features historical photos of campus and renowned alumni, as well as beautifully illustrated drawings by the father-daughter team of watercolor artists Stephan Moss and Naphtali Morden.

“After reading this book, I don’t know how any Husky could not love our beloved school that much more,” said Stuart. “Not only is it a university of such high caliber that commands local and world-wide respect, but it always has, and I believe, always will, continue to be highly regarded in its work and its people.”
