Shout out to Brandman University Grads!

I just want to take a moment to congratulate the newest class of graduates from Brandman University who went through commmencement! They’re all military service members at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and when you think of the dedication it takes to be serving on active duty, care for your family AND get a degree — ALL at the same time — they deserve a ‘shout out!’ Here’s a link to the recent ceremony: http://brandmanhub.com/front-page/graduation-day-at-brandman-jblm/.

And here’s a recent honor for Brandman University itself — being ranked in the top ten online university programs by U.S. News and World Report. Congratulations to a new client!

Brandman University Celebrates High Ranking on U.S. News & World Report List

Ranked No. 8 in the nation for undergraduate online programs with campuses in Washington

IRVINE, CA — Brandman University, part of the Chapman University System, is among the top ten online education programs, as evaluated by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013 Best Online Education Program Rankings. Ranked as No. 8 on the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs list for 2013, Brandman serves some 12,000 students from across the U.S. through its online programs and at 26 campus locations in Washington State and California. The rankings are based on a comprehensive list that rates programs with a weighted numerical score.

“This acknowledgement from U.S. News is certainly something to celebrate for faculty, staff and students alike,” said Brandman University Chancellor Gary Brahm. “We are focused on delivering an innovative online curriculum to meet the needs of busy working adult students, providing valuable degrees when they graduate. U.S. News is making important strides for consumers by evaluating online programs in their annual rankings and we are thrilled to have landed among the top ten schools in the country for online bachelor’s programs.”

With a graduation rate of 70%, two times the national average, Brandman University is a leader in serving adult students in the pursuit of a quality education, with both online and physical classes. Started in 1958 as a university with deep roots to educate military service members, Brandman now has campuses at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Naval Base Kitsap at Bangor, and a civilian campus in Lacey. All campuses are open to civilian students who obtain base clearance.

“These are the best online bachelor’s degree programs, based on factors such as graduation rates, indebtedness of new graduates, and academic and career support services offered to students,” said U.S. News education reporter Kelsey Sheehy. “With the number of schools offering fully online degree programs nearly double what it was 10 years ago, more students can unlock the benefits of higher education without quitting their jobs or uprooting their families.

U.S. News collects data directly from colleges and universities, as well as from other sources. This year, the magazine reported that 92 percent of the 1,391 colleges and universities it surveyed responded to its request for statistical information; of those, 860 online programs were evaluated for the ranking list. Additional data was obtained from the American Association of University Professors, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Council for Aid to Education, and the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. The magazine evaluates and analyzes data on various indicators of academic quality and assigns a weight to each factor based on its relative importance. It then tabulates composite scores and ranks institutions against others in the same peer group.
